The Society of Pius IX

Membership

(a)    Application for active membership of the Society shall be made to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall admit to active membership of the Society only clergy with apostolic orders acceptable to the Roman Pontiff, as determined by the Rector. Applicants for active membership of the Society whose orders are not acceptable to the Roman Pontiff shall consent to conditional or sub-conditional ordination upon terms mutually agreeable to the Rector and Applicant. Clergy admitted under this Article shall have voice and vote at the Annual General Meeting.

(b)    At his discretion, the Rector may admit members of celibate religious communities to the Society.  Applicants admitted under this Article shall have voice and vote at the Annual General Meeting.

(c)    At his discretion, the Rector may confer upon clergy or religious who are desirous of the prayers and fellowship of the Society the status of Associate Member of the Society. Applicants admitted under this Article shall have voice but no vote at the Annual General Meeting.

We invite applications for membership from clergy and religious who uphold Catholic teaching.

We offer ourselves to our Christian brethren as an alternative to the dysfunction of the diocesan system
in the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches.

N.B. Bishops who apply for reception into the Society will, upon reception, function as priests for a minimum of one calendar year before an application for recognition of episcopal status can be considered.
